Time to name the boss!

As i mentioned earlier in the week I have decided to come up with some names and a little bit of back story for some of my guys

The 409th commander will be:

Colonel Gregor 'Lucky' Veissman
Company commander

Col Veissman has lead the 409th since their incorporation into the Imperial Guard. He was the natural choice being the most respected and feared leader of the largest hunting party on Vessen Prime. He is a bold and fearless leader who leads from the front with his two trusty pistols. The nickname of 'Lucky' originated from the first campaign the 409th were engaged in. When his Chimera was struck by a shaped anti tank weapon, blowing a hole clean through the drivers compartment, and flipping the tank on its back, he was the first to exit the rear of the vehicle immediately drawing his pistols. What was left of his command squad falling out of the vehicle, dazed, behind him. Veissman was greeted with the sight of one of the biggest Orks he had ever seen. This was clearly the rabbles warboss! The brute charged towards him, Veissman blasting at him with his pistols, to little effect, until the magazine of the chimera's autocannon ignited, sending an armoured plate spinning towards the lumbering Ork, missing Veissman by mere inches, the plate flew through the air chopping the Orks head clean off. Veissman then seized this opportunity felling the rest of the brutes squad and effectively winning the battle single handed.

Other notables:

Lieutenant Stovra 'Deadshot' De Vickers
Tank Commander

With his trusty Vanquisher tank Lt De Vickers has earned the nickname 'Deadshot' for his excellent kill ratio. One of his most notable kills, was hitting the knee joint of a rampaging Tyranid  gargantuan creature, blowing its leg in two, causing it to crash to the ground killing hundreds of its smaller creatures and rendering it easy prey for the rest of the company to finish off. De Vickers is an unorthodox Commander, using innovative tactics which has forced many an enemy commander onto the back foot.

Commisar Victor Brax

Commisar attached to the 409th since their founding, he has a strong relationship with the Colonel, almost bordering on friendship. Since the 409th have been campaigning for such a significant period of time without contact with high command, he seems to have turned a blind eye to some of the 'modifications' and non standard equipment the 409th carry. He has gained the respect from the troopers of the 409th and they follow him like they would one of their own. Therefore executions are sparse and not Brax's usual method of discipline.

Lieutenant Gene 'Sneaks' Roxto
Adj to Col Veissman

Roxto has served alongside Veissman since the loss of his first Adj to the Chimera explosion that earned the Col his nickname. During battle Roxto acts as the Colonel's Vox man and when needed his bannerman. Outside of battle Roxto serves the Col in an administrative capacity. However, unbeknown to any outside the 409th, Roxto has a talent for infiltration and subterfuge. He would have made the perfect elite stormtrooper had he been an orphan of a noble, but an upper class does not exist among the civilians of Vessen Prime. The Col uses Roxto's talents to his advantage and especially when on campaign with other Regiments. The tragic accident that Brigadier Gaap (commander of the 118th Kluwer Rifles) had on the Wolts Campaign is proof of this, this saved the 409th from being used in a suicidal charge against unconquerable opposition and would have meant certain annihilation for the 409th.

I will likely add to this as the 409th continue their battles.

That's all for now.

Hewkers out

  1. Hiya, nice fluff but here's a few comments...
    - About the blog, it's quite hard to read with the text colors and all. ;)
    - Is the Col. the Regimental Commander or Company Commander?
    - Love the background for the Adj. The good Col. should be careful though, what with an Adj. that has these skills it might be pretty easy for the Col. to be "replaced" as well.

    1. Thanks for the comment.
I tried to match the colours of the blog to the colours of the 409th. But I will take a look at changing them up to make it easier to read. What would you suggest in particular?
I guess he would be my regimental commander. The top dog if you will.
Oh don't worry about the Adj, he is completely loyal to the Col and the 409th.
